Atherton Herberton Chaplaincy Committee

School Chaplaincy is about placing committed people within our schools that have a genuine care for the students and the school community.  As a committee, we are excited to often hear of the impact Chaplains around the state, are having in the lives of students.  We hear heart-warming stories where our Chaplain has been about to help a student in need.

At a grass roots level we are seeing our Chaplains meeting real needs of today’s youth, be that pastoral care or just being a caring listener apart from the formal management of the school.

Murray Hanrahan is our Chaplain for the Atherton State High and Herberton P10 Schools. Part of our support as a Committee involves fundraising to pay for additional hours to enable our chaplain to provide an increased level of support in our schools. Murray works full-time sharing his time between each school. The Chaplains’ employment is auspiced through the highly regarded non-denominational and non-profit organisation, Scripture Union Queensland.
